ClosingTime is a System 7-only application with one purpose: It shuts down all currently running applications (including desk accessories and control panels!) other than the Finder. I find it indispensable in several situations:
• When I need to eject a floppy disk or CD, but I have several applications open which are either located on the CD or have opened documents that are on the CD. Normally, to dismount the CD, you need to close all the applications and make sure none of the documents are open.
• When I need to free up some memory- it closes everything that's running so you can launch the application you really want to use.
• Some installer programs require you to close all open applications before installing new programs or fonts.
• When I just plain have too many things running, and want to close down everything without shutting down my Mac
For easy access, put ClosingTime in your Apple Menu Items folder so it shows up in the Apple menu, or leave it out on the desktop.
